Lap and Wrap House

Lap and Wrap

Lap and Wrap is a single-story house built on a sloping urban site. The retaining wall and the building foundation are combined into one structure, so a larger part of the land is returned to the courtyard. The foundation is slanted rather than vertical, which gives the concrete a clear expression. The outer wall overlaps like a stratum and wraps around the house in a continuous band. No windows face the road. On the garden side, many windows and wide eaves form an intermediate area that joins inside and outside.

Sun Shed Renovation

Sun Shed

Sun Shed is the renovation of an agricultural shed into a banquet hall on an ecological farm in Jiangsu, China. The layout replaces the common middle-axis plan with a circular arrangement that radiates from a central stage, so guests are seated without primary and secondary positions. The renovated hall also hosts meetings, performances and other social events.
